Going bold!

A czerwień dodaje charakteru całemu wnętrzu.
Kilka książek, ładny świecznik i to wystarczy.
Our surroundings is to make us feel good and safe, but what is often understated, is to please the eye. There was one spot in my living room which niggled me. Thus, I decided totake some drastic measures here. Take a look at the effect and the rules which I followed here:
  •  Don't be afraid to overscale! If the wall is big and the furniture that stands against it is rather large too, don't be afraid of bold decor, frames and accessories. The large lamp and pictures which I've chosen here (and made myself) make this wall eye-catching but not overwhelming, despite the size of the decorations. We tend to go for smaller frames, pictures, accessories, but it's the big items that make the WOW effect.
  • Don't be afraid to use color! Here I used a red lamp from my son's bedroom, which I redid (remember, I bought an oldie from I guess 1970s, brown, but with a can of red spray paint and a new lampshade, it's a beauty now!). And red color pop gives drama to the whole interior.
  • Don't be afraid of DIY! Pictures which you see here are totally my idea. I made them from scratch. I bought 3 sheets of  Bristol board (two white for the background and one navy for the rest of the elements). I cut two semicircles from the navy sheet, the pictures are their negative reflections and asymbolize love (in short). Creating your own pieces of art isn't difficult, all you need is paper, paint, scissors, etc. and if you lack creativity, inspiration from the internet. It's great fun and an amazing way to destress.
  • Don't be afraid of artificial flowers! OK, I know how it sounds! I'm not a fan too, but if you remember two rules, artificial flowers will make your house beautiful, make you save a lot and you will have your fave flowers the whole year, not only during their blooming season. First, choose the flowers that look fresh-like and mind the price (the beautiful ones are rarely cheap). Second, the stems often tell it's a fake one, so keep them in non-transparent vases.
  • Don't be afraid of emptiness! If you followed the above mentioned tips with the scale and the color, try to minimize the number of smaller accessories. A few books, a nice candlestick and that's it.
